The Revd Prof Frances Young and the Revd Dr Graham Tomlin … keynote speakers at this year's integrative seminar
Two outstanding keynote speakers addressed this year’s Integrative Seminar at the Church of Ireland Theological Institute. This year’s seminar focussed on the nature and work of the Holy Spirit.

The Revd Dr Graham Tomlin, Dean of Saint Mellitus College in London, spoke on ‘The Holy Spirit in the World Today.’

The Revd Prof Frances Young, Emeritus Edward Cadbury Professor of Theology at Birmingham University, spoke on: ‘Learning from our Roots: What the Early Church Can Teach us about the Holy Spirit.’

The seminar aimed to challenge students of all traditions to consider carefully the place of the Holy Spirit in their own theology and life of faith.

For a third year, the seminar was a joint effort between CITI and Edgehill Theological College, the Methodist theological college in Belfast. This collaboration was facilitated by keynote speakers representing both the Methodist and Anglican traditions and was an important expression of the way both colleges are embracing the covenant between the Church of Ireland Methodist Church in Ireland.

Students and staff also took part in Bible Studies on key passages on the Holy Spirit and in small groups they discussed ministry case studies.

In addition, three workshops offered connections to ministerial practice:

• The Bishop of Kilmore, the Right Revd Ferran Glenfield, offered a workshop on ‘Spirit Infused Preaching.’

• The Revd Canon Roly Heaney, Rector of Redcross, Co Wicklow, facilitated a workshop on ‘Helping Congregations Engage with the Holy Spirit.’

• The Revd Dr Richard Clutterbuck, Principal of Edgehhill Theological College, led a session on ‘Sacraments and the Holy Spirit.’

The seminar included a prayer clinic and prayer ministry. The Revd Janet Unsworth, Director of Studies at Edgehill, presided at the closing Eucharist.
