Prayer Book Society visit to CITI
On 26th January, Owen Wilson, the Administrator of the Ireland Branch of the Prayer Book Society, visited CITI to present copies of the Book of Common Prayer (1662) to students. He was joined by Dr Kenneth Ferguson, whose Early History of the Book of Common Prayer in Ireland, 1551–1647 was also distributed. The presentation was preceded by Morning Prayer (Order One), and there was an opportunity for Owen and Kenneth to continue conversations over coffee following the service. The Prayer Book Society is keen to encourage groups in each of the Dioceses to promote the use of liturgy in the Prayer Book style and to generate discussion and interest in matters of language, history, performance and practice. Students following the non–residential MTh pathway will receive their copies of the PBS’s gift in the course of their February session of lectures. CITI is delighted to have this link with the PBS and hopes that it can be fostered in the future.
