Downes Oratory Prize

On Wednesday 5 April, the Downes extemporary speaking competition was held in the Jenkins room. The motion for the evening’s debate was as follows:

‘This house believes that an era of ‘fake news’ is bad news for the mission of the church.’

The winners of the debate were Emma Carson (first year), Andrew Irwin (second year) and Mark Gallagher (third year).

It was adjudicated by Dr Katie Heffelfinger and Revd Canon Patrick Comerford.
