Dr Katie M. Heffelfinger
BA, MDiv, ThM, PhD

Katie Heffelfinger joined the staff of CITI in 2009. Before that she studied theology at Asbury Theological Seminary and Princeton Theological Seminary. She holds a PhD in Hebrew Bible from Emory University. Katie’s research interests focus on the interpretation of biblical Hebrew poetry and, in particular, the poetics of Isaiah 40–66.
Publications exploring Isaian poetry include her recent commentary Isaiah 40–66 in the New Cambridge Bible Commentary Series (2024) and the earlier monograph ‘I Am Large, I Contain Multitudes’: Lyric Cohesion and Conflict in Second Isaiah.
Katie’s ongoing research interests focus on the formational impact of biblical poetics and the ways in which prophetic–poetic persuasion is achieved through affect and aesthetics.
