Downes’s Divinity Premium Award
Congratulations to the three winners of the Downes’ Divinity Premium Award for Semester 1, 2020–21: Year 1 – Stuart Armstrong; Year 2 – Andrew Pierce; Year 3 – Anna Williams.
Stu submitted an essay examining the claim that western culture is systemically racist, and looking at how the Church might respond to the alienation felt by minorities.
Andy’s writing sought to explore some of the longer term implications of online gatherings for worship made necessary by the global pandemic under the heading, ‘Alone together, not together together’.
Anna’s work considered how one might go about leading a parish book club, for which she creatively invoked some fascinating theological themes from The Hobbit.
